Abstract

Learners educational achievement has always been one of the main concerns of educational systems and practitioners. Some teachers tend to avoid using traditional teaching methods and prefer to practice newer ones to make instruction more efficient. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of the exploratory method on eighth grade students’ Arabic translation ability in Kashan schools. In order to answer the questions of the research, 78 students, studying in this grade in the academic year of 1400-1401 from a selected public school in kashan, were randomly selected as a statistical sample and were examined through a quasi-experimental method. At the beginning of the experimental period, the homogeneity of the translation level of the two groups was confirmed by administering a researcher-made test. Then, during one academic year, the first group was taught with the traditional teaching method, and the second group was taught using the exploratory method in Arabic. At the end of the academic year, the post-test was conducted and the results were statistically analyzed using SPSS software. Cronbach's alpha was calculated to ensure the reliability of the researcher-made test, and finally, T-test was employed to answer the research questions. The results of the data analysis of the post-test score, with a significant difference, revealed that the exploratory method was more effective than the traditional method in improving students' translation ability.
